These FSDUs along with counter display units and gravity dispensers were designed to hold an innovative new product from Johnson & Johnson’s Neutrogena brand. The Neutrogena Power Wave Cleanser is the No 1 selling cleanser in the US and has sold over 3 million units there. The one-of-a-kind Neutrogena Power Wave Cleanser uses gentle vibrations to open up pores and sweep away dull surface skin. The product’s unique technology works ten times better than traditional cleansing methods to remove skin impurities and makeup. Its water-resistant, battery-powered, handheld design makes it convenient for everyday use, even in the shower.
Johnson & Johnson’s objective was to target the female teenage market in the above retail environments and to maximize the product’s in store exposure tying in with the bright brand colours and innovative design of the product. As the product was a bestseller in the US, Canada and New Zealand, sales forecasts indicated a replication of this in the Irish market.
Johnson & Johnson required the POS units to reflect the uniqueness of the Power Wave product and visually attract the consumer to the product. The design was created with this in mind using the Power Wave colour along with the celebrity endorsing the product, in this case Vanessa Hudgens.
They fulfilled marketing objectives set by Johnson & Johnson and to highlight the success of this, Johnson & Johnson had to re order 120 FSDUs to meet increased demand for the product in store.
