Purchasing Manager

The Printed Image are currently seeking to recruit a Purchasing Manager with an immediate start reporting to Head of Finance. The main function of the role is purchasing and stock control for our 50,000 square foot print production facility.

Responsibilities of role

– Forecasting levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels

– Sourcing and ordering material for our production facility

– Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality

– Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers

– Partnering closely with Production, Planning, and Sales teams to ensure optimum order size, quality and timing

– Partnering with Suppliers to ensure a certainty of supply and quality of product

– Identifying potential new suppliers and products, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them

– Negotiating and agreeing contracts and best price and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided

– Maintaining contract files and using them as reference for future

– Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities

– Analyse current spending trends and identifying and driving potential cost saving initiatives as well suggesting procedural and process improvements in the purchasing function

– Developing the Group’s purchasing strategy

– Producing Purchasing and Stock reports for senior management

– Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors

– Achieving the correct balance between bulk orders and minimising stock

– Overall responsibility for Stock Control and Raw Materials Management

– Responsibility for overhead cost review and control


– Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, materials management and Stock control

– Possesses a Procurement qualification – preferably to diploma or degree level

– Great communication and organisation skills

– Excellent negotiation skills

– Strong IT skills, especially in MS Excel

– Knowledge of the print industry is desirable but not essential

– Experience of Lean an advantage
